All About the GentleCath Air™ for Women Catheter
Many women want a catheter that’s going to be easy to use, comfortable, and discreet as possible. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are another common concern for female catheter users.
That’s why Convatec developed and created the new GentleCath Air™ for Women Catheter, based on feedback from women who use catheters. This hydrophilic female compact catheter has features and benefits that can help provide a smooth and comfortable experience. It offers the protection you can trust and the freedom you can feel.
Compact and elegant, the new GentleCath Air™ for Women is easy to discreetly carry in your pocket or purse. Its convenient size and discreet design make it perfect for everyday use. It’s ready to use right out of its AirCase™, which allows for resealing after use for clean and worry-free disposal.
Features of the GentleCath Air™ for Women
The GentleCath Air™ for Women offers the following great features:
- Compact, pocket-sized catheter with a discreet cosmetic design
- Ready to use with integrated FeelClean Technology™ hydrophilic properties
- Long funnel for easy, hygienic handling
- Made without PVC, PVP, or DEHP
- AirCase™ cap re-attaches securely for a leak-proof, mess-free experience
- The case is 100% recyclable
- The catheter is single-use and disposable
What Makes FeelClean Technology™ Unique?
The GentleCath Air™ for Women Catheter incorporates Convatec’s advanced, next-generation FeelClean Technology™. GentleCath catheters have hydrophilic FeelClean Technology™ directly embedded into the catheter material. This helps provide a consistently smooth catheterization from start to finish.
Protects Urethra Due to No Sticking
GentleCath Air™ catheters with FeelClean Technology™ stand out because they are free from PVP, a glue-like substance used in other brands of popular hydrophilic catheters. Catheters made with PVP can often become sticky as they dry out and leave behind residue.
Compared to the leading PVP-coated hydrophilic catheters*, GentleCath™ catheters made with FeelClean Technology™ cause 30% less damage to human urethral cells on withdrawal*.
Reduces Discomfort and Risk of UTIs
The GentleCath Air™ for Women Catheter’s hydrophilic properties are fully integrated within the catheter, creating a sleek, lubricated surface that stays smooth and comfortable from insertion to withdrawal. By minimizing friction, this catheter for women may help reduce discomfort, bleeding, and the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs)*.
Minimal Mess and Residue
One of the standout features of the GentleCath Air™ for Women is that FeelClean Technology™ leaves behind minimal mess and residue*. After catheterizing, you won’t have to worry about sticky substances on your hands, clothes, or body. This makes the GentleCath Air™ a reliable choice for women seeking a cleaner, hassle-free catheterization experience.
How to Use the New GentleCath Air™ for Women Catheter
Using the GentleCath Air™ for Women Catheter is easy and comfortable. Here are some general instructions.
Step 1. Prepare your supplies and set them nearby while you wash your hands or put on gloves.
Step 2. Sit on or stand over the toilet. If available, use disinfecting wipes or swabs or warm, soapy water to clean around the urethral opening.
Step 3. Remove the ready-to-use GentleCath Air™ for Women from its discreet AirCase™. You do not need to activate the hydrophilic properties or use additional lubricant. Handling it by its long funnel, direct it to your urinary opening. (Tip: it may be helpful to use a catheter mirror, especially if you’re new to using catheters).
Step 4. Slowly insert the catheter into the urethra. If there is any resistance when the catheter reaches the sphincter muscle, take a deep breath and gently apply steady pressure. Coughing may also help relax your muscles. However, do not force the catheter.
Step 5. When urine begins to flow, insert the catheter another inch if possible. Allow the urine to flow into the toilet or another safe receptacle.
Step 6. When the flow of urine stops, slowly remove the catheter.
Step 7. After use, you can reseal the catheter in its waterproof AirCase™ for discreet disposal. If you’re not in a place where you can discreetly throw away your catheter, you can store it in your bag, pocket, or backpack without leaks or messes until you’re ready to throw it away.
