At 180 Medical, we love giving back to our communities across the country when we can. Our annual scholarship program is one of our favorite ways to contribute.
180 Medical’s founder, Todd Brown, originally created our scholarship program in 2012, because he wanted a way to help out disabled and physically challenged students who often experience a heavier financial burden due to their health conditions.
Todd’s hope was to help these students and their families with the costs of college so that they might achieve their dreams and “pay it forward” by making a positive impact in the world.
2018 180 Medical College Scholarship Recipients
During our application period from January 1 to June 1 of 2018, we heard from hopeful candidates from all over the country.
So many of the applicants’ stories were moving. Some of us on the 180 Medical Scholarship Committee even had tears in our eyes as we read their stories. It’s never easy to narrow down to seven finalists, but we reviewed each application and essay diligently.
We’re excited to introduce you to each of our seven recipients over the next few months. You’ll hear more about their scholastic achievements and how they want to use their experiences to help others.
Here are this year’s scholarship recipients:
- Alaina Goodwin
- Helena Williamson
- Ian Malesiewski
- Kale Hyder
- Lauren Beckmeyer
- Macolin Christman
- Marissa Walter
We’re sure they will go on to complete their education and impact the world in positive ways.
A Little About 180 Medical’s Scholarship Program
180 Medical’s annual scholarship provides seven recipients with a $1,000 award to help finance their college education.
In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time at a college or university and under a doctor’s care for a spinal cord injury, transverse myelitis, spina bifida, neurogenic bladder, or an ostomy (ileostomy, urostomy, or colostomy).
