Today I’m excited to highlight Jake! He’s been a part of the 180 Medical family for over 7 years now and has made quite an impact in our Shipping Department. He works hard, loves sports, and bleeds 180!
How long have you been at 180 Medical and what roles have you had here?
I have been working at 180 Medical for a little over 7 years now. When I first started here I began as a Shipping Specialist. I was responsible for pulling orders and shipping them to our customers. About 4 years into my job, I became a Shipping Lead. This gave me the opportunity to help our shipping team in a leadership role. I later transitioned into a Receiving Lead and then a few years later I became the Assistant Warehouse Manager.
What advice would you give a new employee for being successful at 180 Medical?
I would advise that they work as hard as they can and to pay attention to every little detail so that we may help our customers in the best way possible. Also, be ready to work as a team so we can work together in providing the best service in the industry.
What’s the one word you would choose to describe 180 Medical, and why?
Outstanding. Everything from the atmosphere that you work in to the employees you work with. Outstanding.
What is the best part about working at 180 Medical to you?
The best part of working at 180 Medical is knowing that you’re part of the best team out there in doing what we do. In comparison, we are basically like the ’96 Bulls.
What’s one accomplishment while at 180 Medical that you’re proudest of?
I am proud of all of my success and growth that I have made since starting out at 180 Medical, but one moment that stands out is winning my first Manager’s Recognition Award. It’s hard to beat the feeling of management showing their appreciation of all the hard work you put in by bringing it to light in front of the whole company.
What is a favorite 180 Medical event here?
My favorite event at 180 Medical would have to be the Christmas party. I already enjoy Christmas time, plus who doesn’t enjoy having a good time while possibly being able to hear your name called to receive a present for Christmas that isn’t a pair of socks?
What do you like to do in your free time?
Outside of work I really enjoy traveling out of state to discover somewhere new. I also love playing basketball whenever I can while also getting the chance to teach my older brother how to play.
I am a big fan of sports, especially the Oklahoma City Thunder, OU Sooners, and the Chicago Cubs (before last year’s World Series) and I try to watch every game I can.
What’s something on your bucket list you still want to do?
Something that I would like to check off of my bucket list would be to go to a Super Bowl. I don’t really have a favorite NFL team, but I would like to go enjoy the atmosphere and it would be even better to watch a team beat the Patriots and Tom Brady.
